Who can receive a customer dividend?

The customer dividend can be paid to individuals and businesses. It is based on the amount you have in loans and deposits, as well as how long you’ve been a customer during the relevant year. To receive a minimum payout, you must have at least NOK 50,000 in loans and deposits.

The customer dividend applies to loans and deposits with the bank, but not to other savings products like funds or stocks.

  • You can receive a dividend for a maximum of NOK 2 million in loans with the bank.

  • Joint borrowers can receive a dividend for up to NOK 4 million in loans.

  • You can receive a dividend for a maximum of NOK 2 million in deposits with the bank.

Is the dividend taxable?

Yes, the dividend is taxable for both individuals and businesses.

You do not need to make any changes to your tax return. When you check your annual statement from the bank, you’ll see the customer dividend reported along with the interest income for the account where you receive the amount.

How is customer dividends decided?

The decision to pay a customer dividend is made each year by the General Assembly of Sparebanken Vest. The dividend is a profit-sharing arrangement and is determined based on the bank’s annual results, equity, and liquidity.

Is a customer dividend guaranteed every year?

No, the dividend is not guaranteed every year.

Co-borrower and 0 on customer dividend?

For joint borrowers, the entire customer dividend for the mortgage loan will be paid to the primary borrower. The primary borrower can see in the app how much of the dividend comes from the mortgage loan. The portion of the customer dividend that comes from deposits will be paid to both borrowers separately.
